Drum Instructor

Michelle Mangione is currently available for instructing beginning to advanced students who are motivated, willing to do the work AND have the fun.

Michelle started teaching drums at Delian Music in Los Angeles at age16. She
was taught by a woman named Kay Carlson, who, Michelle says, "happens to
be the best teacher I've ever known. She knew not only how to play the drums, but also how to teach them." Mangione then went on to study at the Musician's
Institute (PIT) in Hollywood, CA, Dick Grove Music School, and many, many workshops including PAS workshops.. She studied hand percussion under Luis Conte, Brian Kilgore and Francisco Aguabella (as well as others), and studied Brazilian music under composer Anonio Adolfo. 

She also has experience as a drum music transcriber.

Her teaching method consists of technique, sightreading, styles…
She uses many books including Syncopation, and Stick Control.

Michelle's drumming experience includes:
Jazz with Buddy Collette,  R & B with Robben Ford, and Rock & Roll with the rock band Sideswipe (voted by OC Weekly as one of Orange County's 10 top live bands ever), performing in and out of the country with various artists.
